SPECIAL PROGRAM IN PANAMA FOR BIRDERS PHOTOGRAPHERS 2025 : 13 DAYS / 12 NIGHTS

Day 1: Arrival at Tocumen airport and transfer to the hotel

- Arrival at Tocumen airport,
- Transfer to your hotel in Panama;
- If the meal served on the plane was not enough, we'll provide a meal at the hotel

Day 2 : Pipeline road

- After breakfast, departure to the Panama Rainforest Discovery Center (Pipeline Road) at the edge of the city, to search for and observe many species of birds.
- Picnic on site observing some pretty species of hummingbirds very closely;
- At the end of the afternoon,we will go back to the hotel
- Dinner and overnight in Panama city.

Day 3 : Pipeline road

- Same program as the day before to give us a new opportunity to photograph the species already observed and foremost to have a chance to encounter new ones.

Day 4 : Panama city - Parc National Altos de Campana

- Early breakfast;
- Departure for the national park of “Los Altos de Campana”
- After an hour drive, we will arrive at the park where we will spend the whole day walking the trails and taking numerous photos of the local avifauna (around 180 listed species). If we are lucky enough, we will also encounter some mammals such as howler monkeys, coatis, and even sloths;
- For lunch we planned to have a picnic at the place;
- We will leave around 5 p.m. towards the "El Valle de Anton" where we will have dinner and spend the night at the hotel for a well-deserved rest (1 hour and 15 minutes drive away)

Day 5 : El Valle de Anton - Santiago de Veraguas

- Breakfast followed by a hiking on Mont Gaïtal to encounter sumptuous landscapes and new species of birds;
- Lunch in a restaurant in the city;
- New observation walk on the "India dormida" trail. Don’t forget to check your batteries and memory cards;
- It is around 5 p.m. that we will hit the road again to go to “Santiago de Veraguas”. This is where we will have dinner and spend the night in a four-star hotel.

Day 6 : Santiago de Veraguas - Golfo de Chiriqui

- After breakfast, we will leave the place towards the Gulf of Chiriqui which is one of the best places to observe the species of the Panamanian Pacific coast;
- Our arrival is scheduled for the end of the day so it is actually the following day that we will enjoy the Gulf of Chiriqui.

Day 7 : Golfo de Chiriqui

- After breakfast, the day will be dedicated to wandering around in the surrounding area;
- We will go back to the hotel for a well-deserved rest and also to empty our memory cards which are about to overflow.

Day 8 : Golfo de Chiriqui - Boquete

- Breakfast
- Departure towards Boquete (1 hour 30 minutes away), to go to the slopes of the Baru volcanoes (the highest point of the country: 3475m);
- We will stay 3 nights in the superb four-star “Finca Lerida” which will serve us as a base camp to observe the Quetzals! This very beautiful establishment is located on the hills covered with coffee trees above the town of Boquet. We could also observe 5 to 6 different species of hummingbirds including the magnificent Scintillant (Selasphorus scintilla) which lives up to its name when it passes through the light;
- After lunch we will go to the “Cascada perdida” trail where we will have the opportunity to photograph the Quetzal (Pharomachrus mocinno)

Day 9 : Resplendent Quetzal

- Breakfast
- We will then return to the trail, always with the aim of observing and photographing the mythical Resplendent Quetzal (Pharomachrus mocinno) during the nesting period (Between April and June);
- In addition to the Quetzal, we will try to observe the Aurora Trogon (Trogon rufus), another magnificentTrogonidae!
- We will take a picnic lunch box so as not to waste time and enjoy the forest to the most;
- We will then return to the hotel for dinner and a well-deserved sleep night.

Day 10 : Birding Paradise - Cerro Punta

- Breakfast and departure towards the Birding Paradise where it will be possible to photograph the Lesson Motmot (Motmotus lessonii), the Emerald Tanager (Clorophanes spiza), the Orange-necked Manakin (Manacus aurantiacus) or the Chiriqui Anabata ( Automolus exsertus) which is endemic to Panama;
- In 2002, more than 400 were listed on the property (over the whole year);
- It will also be possible to photograph the species of hummingbirds that come to the feeders (at least 7 different species) and flowering shrubs;
- We will stay at Birding Paradise for billebaudes interspersed with a typical local lunch;
- We will get the road towards "Cerro Punta" which is on the other side of the Baru volcano;
- After 1 hour and 30 minutes driving we will arrive at the hotel "Los Quetzales" which lives up to its name!

Day 11 : Cerro Punta

- After breakfast, the hotel's vehicle will take us to the high-altitude rainforest bird-watching area where it is possible to spot the Quetzal
- We will spend the day before returning to the hotel for dinner and the rest.

Day 12 : Cerro Punta - David - Panama city

- Breakfast
- During the morning we will enjoy our last moments at Cerro Punta with one last outting before lunch;
- Departure towards David airport around 2 p.m so othat you can catch your 5:45 p.m. flight to Panama city (1 hour flight)
- Arrival in the capital city for dinner;
- Overnight at the hotel in Panama city.

Day 13 : Last day in Panama

- Breakfast
- It will then be time to take your return international flight (Flight is not included)
- End of our services.
