Jaguar Tour + Chapada + Nobres : 10 days / 9 nights

INCLUDED:

• Accomodation : 9 nights on full board accomodation in the Pantanal lodges as well as in Chapada dos Guimaraes and Nobres
• Activities : hiking in the woods, boat trip observation on the river, horseback riding, photograph safari, night spot lighting, snorkeling among the fish in crystalline water and of course the jaguar expedition;

Day 1 : Cuiabá – Pantanal

- Meeting at the airport of Cuiabá or at the hotel of your choice at 8 am.
- Take the road straight to the north Pantanal and our first Lodge,
- We may stop several times in order to observe the fauna, especially birds that fly along the road .
- Arrival at the lodge for lunch
- Hiking in the forest to look for Tufted-capuchin monkeys and coatis.
- Night safari, looking for the Giant anteater (Myrmecophaga tridactyla) and the tapir
( Tapirus terrestris).
- Dinner at the Lodge.

Day 2 : Pantanal

- Before breakfast we’ll go for a walk to observe nature at dawn and try to see toucans and Hyacinth macaws.
- After breakfast photograph safari or some hiking in the woods to look for mammals and Blue-crowned trogon (Trogon curucui).
- Lunch at the Lodge;
- After lunch it’s time to go hiking in the forest in order to look for Black-howler monkeys (Alouatta caraya) and the Black-tailed marmosets (Mico melanurus);
- Return for dinner
- Dinner followed by nocturnal spot-lighting activity to look for the Tapir (Tapirus terrestris).

Day 3: Pantanal – Porto Jofre

- Before breakfast we’ll go for a walk around the lodge in order to observe toucans and aracaris at the feeders.
- After breakfast, we’ll leave the place in order to go to Porto Jofre ;
- We’ll arrive late in the morning because we may often stop along the road to take pictures of astonishing landscapes and wild life.
- Lunch time;
- After lunch, we’ll spend the whole afternoon on a boat searching for the Jaguar
- Dinner at the hotel

Day 4: Porto Jofre

- After breakfast, we’ll spend the whole morning on a boat in search of the Jaguar
- Lunch at the hotel;
- We’ll go back to the boat and continue searching for the big cat and also to try to find the Giant otters (Pteronura brasiliensis).
- Dinner at the hotel

Day 5 : Porto Jofre – Pantanal

- Breakfast,
- After breakfast, we’ll leave the place to go to our next lodge;
- We will make several stops along the road for the observation and photography of the abundant wildlife;
- Lunch at the lodge;
- After lunch we will go hiking in the forest to observe tufted capuchin monkeys and black howler monkeys, coatis, Hyacinth macaw the blue parrot endemic to Brazil which is the largest parrot in the world! and the crimsoncrested woodpecker
- Diner at the lodge
- Night safari, looking for the nocturnal fauna. We’ll try to find Anteaters Tamandua tetradactyla, Tapirs Tapirus terrestris, or nocturnal birds like Owls.

Day 6 : Pantanal

- Before breakfast we’ll go out for a walk to observe nature at dawn. The more we search for the fauna, the more chances we get to have surprising encounters!
- After breakfast, we’ll go horseback-riding, a very good way to have a view of the Pantaneira huge plain. (It can also be substituted by another observation activity if you don’t want to horseback-ride).
- Lunch at the pousada;
- This time we’ll hike in another part of the pousada to get to an observation tower. This lodge makes 7000 hectares.
- Dinner at the lodge

Day 7 : Pantanal – Chapada dos Guimaraes

- Before breakfast we’ll ride on the transpantaneira road to look for the Giant anteater (Myrmecophaga tridactyla).
- Breakfast;
- We’ll go to the Corixo verde where it’ll be possible to observe numerous Caimans (Caiman yacare) looking for the last water points in order not to die dessicated.
- Return for lunch;
- After lunch in our last lodge in the Pantanal, we’ll travel towards the city called Chapada dos Guimarães,
- On the road, it will be possible to stop to take pictures of the landscape, the marvelous red-colored high rocky plateau.
- We’ll arrive at the lodge in the end of the afternoon.
- Dinner in the Chapada dos Guimaraes village or at the lodge

Day 8 : Chapada dos Guimaraes

- Breakfast;
- Departure to the “7 waterfall path” to hike along seven kilometers so that we can swim in 3 waterfalls. The best way to relax after a long walk.
- In the national park, there is no restaurant. I recommend either taking your snacks to have a picnic or eating after we finish the hiking in a restaurant of the village.
- After this, it will be time to go to the Bride’s veil waterfall. If we’re lucky it will be possible to see the Red-and-green macaws (Ara chloropterus) flying by;
- Dinner time

Day 9: Chapada dos Guimaraes – Nobres

- Breakfast;
- Then we will leave the place to go to Nobres
- Arrival at the lodge for lunch
- Snorkeling in the source of Rio Salobra with crystal clear water. The river is right next to the lodge.
- You will then go to "lagoa das Araras" and enjoy the flight of blue and yellow macaws (Ara ararauna) and palm macaw (Orthopsittaca manilata) returning to their nest at the end of the day.
- Dinner at the lodge

Day 10: Nobres – Cuiaba

- Breakfast;
- We’ll go to the wonderful “Serra Azul falls”. After 800 meters walk and 470 stair steps climb, you’ll be rewarded by a beautiful view of a 45 meter- height waterfall named Serra Azul that is falling straight into a natural pool in which you are going to swim with a snorkel to observe the local fish.
- After that, instead of going down the stairs, you’ll ride a 700 meter zip line. Thrilling experience guaranteed! (In case you are a bit afraid of zip lines, it is possible to go down using the stairs);
- Lunch at the lodge
- Then it will be time to leave the place to go to the airport of Cuiaba or to a hotel of your choice
